Driscoll Murals

World Community Art Day 2008

Over the past few weeks Driscoll Catholic High School students have been working with an artist in residence .  Students from each of the four grade levels have helped to design and paint four canvas panels depicting St. John Baptiste De Lasalle.   St. John Baptiste De Lasalle is the patron saint of teachers and the founder of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. The mission of the Christian Brothers schools is to provide a Christian education especially for the poor and working class. Driscoll Catholic students come from all economic levels and ethnic backgrounds.

Each class painted a panel, and the 4 panels put together look like stained glass windows in a church.  The panels will be on display in the school's Science Hall.  The panels can be easily moved so that they can be used as a back-drop for masses, school functions, and other services.

The panels will add beauty to the school as well as enhancing school spirit.   The students have taken ownership of the works of art because they had a hand in making the panels. They are naturally proud of their work.
